My inspiration for this mini capsule collection of performance jewelry (embellishments worn by musicians on stage, editorial image purposes, etc) were our everyday ANTENNAS for what is surrounding us.
Jewelry pieces enhancing the sensibility or blockade of feelings, people and situations confronting us every day.
Using classic draping technique, I developed the patterns and shapes around head and body in paper.
I ironed the resulting patterns and photographed them.
The pictures I imported into Illustrator as the underlying template.
In Illustrator I drew over all the main lines and mirrored them to achieve a perfect and parallel stencil.
I exported the file in dxf.
The shape could then be fed into the laser cutter.
The material I used is unfinished brass.
The result I got was flat and unpolished.
In order to manipulate it into shape, I worked it around a plaster form, using heat and a soft jewelry hammer.
At last I hand polished the pieces first with rough then with with smooth sandpaper for the shiny finish.
